Sherman boys hold on to No. 2 spot in state Class D poll

SYRACUSE - Sherman holds strong in second place in the latest New York State Sports Writers Association basketball polls.

The Wildcats (6-0) remain in the runner-up position in Class D behind New York Mills of Section 3 (7-0).

Clymer (3-1) is listed No. 14 in the same class.

Olean (4-1) has dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 in Class B where Buffalo East (3-0) has taken over the top spot.

Jamestown (1-2) is honorable mention in Class AA, which is headed by Cardinal Hayes of New York City (6-0).

In girls basketball, Chautauqua Lake (4-1) is ranked No. 6 and Randolph (2-1) is tied for 20th with Hoosic Valley of Section 2 (4-2). Randolph and Hoosic Valley battled for the Class C championship two years ago with the latter prevailing.

Pine Valley (2-1) is No. 9 in Class D and Sherman No. 20 is tied with Oriskany of Section 3 (4-1).

Fredonia (4-0) sits No. 14 in Class B and Jamestown (6-0) ranks No. 16 in Class AA where Christ the King of New York City (4-2) leads.
