Westfield seniors hold pot-luck luncheon

January 2, 2014
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

A pot-luck luncheon was enjoyed by 25 members and three guests at the YWCA on Nov. 14.

The program speaker was Cara Seekings for Hospice. Her talk was on the MOLST forms. Anyone over 18 years of age should have this. It dictates your last wishes in your last days and it is how you can make your health care issues known. For information regarding this form, call Cara Seekings at 673-5255 or Hospice at 338-0033.

Shirley Kolpien, president, brought the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Nominating Committee read the names of new officers for 2014. They are Fran Anderson, president; Pat Smith, vice president; Kathy Best, secretary; and Dolores Kaufman, treasurer. There were no nominations from the floor.

Installations will be held at the Jan. 9 meeting.

Donations were made to the Westfield Memorial Hospital, YWCA and a memorial in Caron Young's name to the YWCA.

Betty Wilson won a Slice-O-Matic, Mary Cogliano won the 50/50 and Ann Cochran won the door prize.

The November Kitchen committee included Gladys Hess, Mary Cogliano, Lucille Inwood, Geri Harper and Trudy Stafford.

The Jan. 9 meeting will be a Christmas party. It will be held at noon at the Westfield YWCA. Members should each bring a dish to pass and table service. They should also each bring a wrapped $5-8 gift to exchange (man/man, woman/woman if gift is intended for a specific gender).

Ten smoke detectors will be raffled off, donated by the Westfield Fire Department in an effort to keep their community safe.

The kitchen committee for Jan. 9 will be Hess, Cochran, Darla Augur and Joyce Wainwright.

January 2014 will start a new year with new officers. Please come and support them in their new roles. New members welcome.
