Sherman ranked second in Class D boys basketball poll

SYRACUSE - Sherman (3-0) is ranked second among Class D schools in the first New York State Sportswriters Association boys basketball poll of the season.

The Wildcats are behind New York Mills of Section 3, which has a 4-0 record.

Clymer (3-0) is No. 7 and Ellicottville (2-2) is honorable mention in Class D.

Silver Creek (4-2) is listed No. 15 and Randolph (1-0) is No. 19 in Class C, which is led by Lake George of Section 2 (4-0).

Olean (4-0) leads Class B, Bishop Ludden of Section 3 (2-0) leads Class A and Christ The King of New York City (2-0) tops Class AA.

In the girls poll, Chautauqua Lake (3-0) is No. 6 in Class C and Randolph (2-1) is No. 19. Harpursville of Section 4 (4-0) leads Class C.

Pine Valley (2-1) is listed No. 10 in Class D, which is led by South Kortright of Section 4 (7-0).

Jamestown (3-0) is No. 15 in Class AA, which is led by Christ the King (3-0).

Fredonia (2-0) ranks No. 15 in Class B. Irvington of Section 1 (3-0) is the frontrunner.

Long Island Lutheran of Long Island (3-0) sets the pace in Class A.
