Sherman 46, Brocton 21

SHERMAN, Dec. 20 - The Brocton Bulldogs (0-4, 0-1) made just six shots from the field Thursday in a 46-21 defeat at the hands of the Sherman Wildcats (5-0, 2-0) in a CCAA West II boys high school basketball game.

Aaron Riforgiato was the Bulldogs' top scorer with 13 points.

Brocton fell behind 16-5 after eight minutes and trailed 25-12 at halftime. Things didn't get much better in the second half as the Wildcats outscored the visitors 21-9 for the victory.

Westfield 56, Clymer 48

CLYMER, Dec. 20 - Westfield's Jacob Gray and Lliam Tennies took turns carrying the Wolverines (5-1, 2-0) to a 56-48 victory over Clymer (3-1, 0-1) on Thursday in CCAA West II boys high school basketball action.

Gray scored 10 of his team-high 12 points in the first half, and Tennies scored eight of his 10 points in the second half.

The Wolverines dominated the glass as they hauled down 18 offensive rebounds. Tennies and Tanner Dahl combined for 19 of Westfield's 38 total rebounds.

Westfield took a 17-12 lead into the second half and held a 35-26 halftime edge. The Pirates outscored the visitors, 22-21 in the second half, but couldn't overcome the first-half deficit.

Chautauqua Lake 69, Panama 57

MAYVILLE, Dec. 20 - Ian Clute had a triple double and Carter Davidson led in scoring as Chautauqua Lake presented first-year coach Mike Putney with his first win.

Clute had 19 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists while Davidson scored 23 points as the Thunderbirds knocked off Panama, 69-57, for their first win in four outings.

Both Clute, a senior, and Davidson, a sophomore, scored 10 points in the first half as the T'birds built up a 39-32 advantage.

Davidson connected on 13 points in the second half and Clute added nine more.

Chandler Baker added 10 rebounds and Ryan Miller had 10 points.

Cassadaga Valley 48, Brocton 39

BROCTON, Dec. 22 - Cody Johnson scored 25 points in lifting the Cassadaga Valley Cougars (3-2, 1-0) to a 48-39 victory over Brocton (0-5, 0-2).

Fourteen of his 25 points came in the second half when all three big men for the Bulldogs battled foul trouble.

Brocton held a 9-5 lead after the first quarter, but the Cougars used a 17-7 second-quarter run to take the lead and never looked back.

Johnson and and Mike Lancaster each had seven rebounds while Lancaster added six assists.

Bryan Graves led Brocton with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Gowanda 43, Clymer 41

SOUTH DAYTON - Zach Stephens had 15 points and 14 rebounds to help lead Gowanda (4-2) past Clymer, 43-41, during semifinal action at the Pine Valley Tip-Off Tournament.

The Panthers fell behind 11-6 after the first quarter, but stormed back to take a 21-20 into halftime.

Gowanda was able to build its lead to 34-29 after the third quarter, and was able to hold Clymer off in the fourth quarter for the win.

John Kennedy added 10 points for the Panthers in the win.

Garrett McAfoose had a team-high 13 points in the loss while Pirates' teammate Mitch Einink chipped in 12 points.
