Patricia A. Peters

Patricia A. Peters, 82, of Dewittville, died Thursday (November 28, 2013) in Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY.

She was born October 18, 1931 in Gowanda, NY the daughter of the late Leo R. and Iris M. Frank Dermont.

Patricia was a graduate of Fredonia State College with a bachelor's degree in business. She retired from the Northern Chautauqua Area Girl Scout Council and had also worked at JoAnn's Fabric in Lakewood.

She was a member of the Pomfret Democratic Party, a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, and had been on the board of directors for Camp Gross.

Patricia enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening, and was an avid bird watcher.

She is survived by a son, Richard A. Harkness; four daughters, Susan (John) Allessi of Fredonia, Sheri P. Kipphut of Hamburg, Amy (Michael) Jackino of Fredonia, Jennifer (Eric) Fransen of Ashville; two step sons, James (Lauren) Peters of Sherman, and Jack (Donna) Peters of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret (Leland) Skeels of Cattaraugus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mannie F. Peters who died August 8, 2010; one daughter, Barbara Palmer; and one brother, Michael Dermont.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. No visitation will be observed.

Memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Girl Scout Council or to Camp Gross Foundation.

The Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge of arrangements.
