Westfield seniors December meeting

On December 5, 49 people signed in for lunch for the Mayville Seniors at the VFW dining hall. Christmas decorations brightened the mood along with "The Politically Correct" poem.

Joyce Ayers welcomed everyone and Diane Goodrich gave the blessing. Mary Carlson called the table numbers. The seniors enjoyed sliced ham and a variety of casseroles along with multiple desserts. The table committee was Louise Richir, Dolly Gilbert and Bonnie Johnson.

Joyce Ayers led the salute to the flag. The secretary's and treasurer's reports were read and accepted. Jeff Wagner, tour director, sent lists around of trips and activities to be voted on.

Mary Carlson gave birthday wished to Betty Jane Martin, Richard Curtiss, Fern Abram and Amy Meeder as life members. Other birthdays were Carol Faust, Sandy Anderson, Virginia Scriven, Laura Parment, Wanda Gustafson, Fran Miller, Bill Barber, Ronald Spacht, Sr., Emerson Chandler, Christine Kroll and Jessie Syper.

Anniversaries this month are Bill and Sally Fahy, Robert and Nancy Cole, and Dan and Darlene Golde.

New officers were installed by Diane Goodrich as follows: President Joyce Ayers, Vice President Bonnie Johnson, 2nd Vice President Wanda Gustafson, Secretary Izetta Ayling and Treasurer Edna Brown.

Joyce Ayers presented a monetary gift to Don Skellie for the VFW and to Edna Brown for the VFW Auxiliary as a thank you for allowing the seniors to use the dining hall and kitchen.

Door prizes were won by Rita Lescynski, Nancy Peters, Dorothy Whipple, Donna Cummings, Betty Walters, Christine Cole, Nancy Tornstrom, Dick Westphal and Gerald White. The lottery drawing was won by Izetta Ayling.

Nettie Moore will play piano for the group at the next meeting which is on January 2, 2014.
