WESTFIELD - A holiday tradition will once again take place on Saturday, Dec. 7 when Westfield's Union Relief Organization hosts the 92nd Charity Ball at Eason Hall.

The Ball will feature cocktails, dancing and live musical entertainment. This annual festive ball will feature the music of the band "Untouchables" with dancing from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. with the traditional Grand March to be held at midnight. Those attending are also invited to a cocktail party beginning at 8 p.m., in appreciation for their support of Union Relief. The Charity Ball is a tradition for many individuals and couples. They look forward all year to a night of festivities while donating to a worthwhile cause.

The Union Relief Association raises money to provide support to families in need, shut-ins and senior citizens. Union Relief held its first meeting and began raising funds on Dec. 3, 1880. Its original mission in 1880 was, "to afford aid and relief to those in need in the community."

The mission is still true today. The association helps families who have a low or fixed income and cannot afford certain necessities. Union Relief relies on support from the community to help individuals and families throughout the year. The association appreciates all the community members, organizations and businesses which provide donations of money, food, clothing and presents. The association's biggest endeavor is the Christmas Project, which provides a better holiday season to the needy children in the community. Families are given food, clothing and presents so that their children may have a Christmas.

Donations for this year's Charity Ball are $20 for a single ticket and $40 for couples. Tickets are available at Westfield Optical, B & C Bookkeeping and Tax Service, through a Union Relief member, or by calling 432-7832. Don't miss this wonderful holiday tradition.
