Grace Marie (Siraqusa) Pierce

Grace Marie (Siraqusa) Pierce, 87, formerly of Fredonia, died Tuesday (Nov. 19, 2013) in Raeford, N.C.

She was born in Dunkirk, NY on Feb. 5, 1926 to the late Sam M. Siraqusa and Carrie Cammarata (Privateer) Siraqusa.

After graduating from Fredonia High School, Grace worked in her family-owned grocery store as a clerk/butcher until her early 30s. For 15 years, she was the day manager for Your Host Restaurant. She also worked as a waitress/cook for Normandy Restaurant, Vineyard Restaurant and Vineyard Golf Course. She continued to work in the culinary department of SUNY Fredonia until she retired due to health reasons.

Survivors include her children: Janet Pierce and Bernice Miller of Raeford, N.C., Carolyn (Ken) Lochbaum of North East, Pa.; her loving daughter-in-law, Kathleen Pierce of Lawrence Park, Pa; her grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Killion, Kevin (Robin) Killion, both of Dunkirk, NY; Renee (John) Lockwood of Randolph, NY, Virginia (Scott) Kawski of Erie, Pa., Jill (Steven) Snow of West End, NC, James A. Phillips and Richard D. Phillips of North Carolina, Richard (Alex) Randall of Erie, Pa., Brent (Jan) Lochbaum of Texas, Crystal Dorman of North East, Pa., Laura McAdoo of Ohio, Amanda (Seth) Sova of North East, Pa., Kara Lochbaum of North East, Pa., Carrie Pierce of Erie, Pa., Alexis (Aaron) Sova of Virginia; 35 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nephews Carl (Kay) Privateer of Fredonia, NY, George (Kay) Privateer Jr. of Fredonia, NY and FL; and David Siragusa of Brocton, NY.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Pierce and her sons, Patrick Pierce in 1976 and Gerald Pierce in 2012; her brothers, Anthony Privateer, George Privateer Sr., and Marion Siragusa; one sister, Jennie Gugino; a niece, Louise Pelleteer; and infant nephew, Anthony Privateer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Church in Fredonia, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Open Arms Retirement Home - Resident Holiday Fund, 612 Health Drive, Raeford, NC 28376. Arrangements are by the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, NY.
