Local seniors enjoy Harvest Dinner

November 21, 2013
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

On Nov. 9, 63 seniors enjoyed a Harvest Dinner at the VFW Dining hall. It was catered by the Christian Alliance Missionary Church with a turkey dinner and pies for dessert.

Diane Goodrich gave the Invocation after Joyce Ayers welcomed everyone. Joyce also led the salute to the flag.

The secretary's report was read along with thank you notes from the family of Ruth Joslyn and one from Juanita Gerring. The treasurer's report was also read and both were accepted.

Jeff Wagner spoke for the Senior Council meeting, which is held once a month at different clubs. There is a website for trips if you're interested.

Mary Carlson, Goodwill Chair, listed November birthdays: Eleanor Cornelius, Hank Ulrich, Marilyn Anderson, Pete Smith, Pat Faust, Dick Westpfahl, Mike Stewart and Carol Brewer. Anniversaries were celebrated by Fred and Sandy Anderson and Bill and Mary Tornstrom.

The guest was Joyce Kurtz and Darlene Barney won the door prize. David Miller, chalk artist, did a scene on canvas while the seniors listened to music and talked.

Diane announced a chicken and biscuit dinner for Nov. 15 at the United Methodist Church to raise funds for the library addition.

Sandy Anderson will do the ham for the Dec. 5 dinner and Skip Roberts will entertain us. Dec. 5 is the only December meeting.
