Students of the Month at Chautauqua Lake Central School, honored for their September achievements, are Jordan Mulholland, Ryleigh Hawkins, Amber McKenery, Jaclyn Doyle, Sara Corwin and Ben Szymanowski. The student recognition program honors students in grades 7 through 12 whose classroom performance, attitude toward learning, work ethic and extra-curricular activities set them apart.

Senior Jordan Mulholland is the daughter of Timothy and Belinda Mulholland of Dewittville. Science and Spanish are Jordan's favorite subjects. Jordan is president of Student Administration and vice president of National Honor Society. She participates in varsity volleyball, Spanish Club, peer tutoring, and the Interact Club, Rotary International's service club for young people. Outside of school she enjoys playing guitar with her father, yoga, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She plans to major in psychology in college. When asked what person in history she admires, Jordan said, "Gandhi, because he stood up for human rights and anti-violence." If she could be another person for a day, she would like to be the Secretary of State so she could travel the world representing our country.

English, history, chemistry, and the Holocaust studies class are the favorite subjects of junior Ryleigh Hawkins, daughter of Ryan Hawkins of Ripley and Andrea Hawkins of Bradenton, Florida. Ryleigh participates in softball, volleyball, basketball and National Honor Society. Outside of school Ryleigh enjoys reading, spending time with her family and all kinds of music. After high school she plans to attend college. She admires Anne Frank because she was so influential and saw the good in people even in the worst of times. To be another person for a day, Ryleigh would like to be Jennie Finch "because she is a softball beast!"

Sophomore Amber Lynn McKenery, who is the daughter of David and Dawn McKenery of Ripley, selects biology and math as her favorite subjects. She participates in tennis, basketball, and softball, and she enjoys playing the guitar, reading books and babysitting young children. Amber plans to major in science in college. Amber admires Abraham Lincoln for his bravery during the Civil War. She noted, "He helped put an end to slavery in the United States."

Jaclyn Vanessa Doyle is the daughter of Darin and Amy Schulz of Ashville and Dr. James Doyle, Warren, Pennsylvania. Jaclyn is a freshman who enjoys classes in human relations and history. She participates on the volleyball and softball teams and is a member of the Ski Club. She enjoys performing in the school musicals. Outside of school, Jackie plays travel league volleyball and enjoys painting and traveling. Jackie plans to attend college to become a teacher. She admires Walt Disney, because he made his dreams a reality, and his stories have remained popular for more than 70 years. If Jackie could be another person for a day, she would be Alix Klineman, a hitter for the United States Woman's National Volleyball team, so "I could train with some amazing athletes and work with a couple of great coaches."

Sara Corwin, an eighth grader, is the daughter of Rob and Dana Corwin of Mayville. English and Science: The Living Environment are Sara's favorite classes, and she participates in soccer, basketball and softball. She also plays saxophone in the band. Outside of school, Sara volunteers for the Office of the Aging. She enjoys playing sports and hanging out with her sisters. Her long range plans include moving to England and becoming an intelligence specialist. The person Sara most admires in history is Steve Jobs, because of his drive and motivation and the way his ideas changed and made history..

Seventh grader Ben Szymanowski is the son of Ben Szymanowski and Sam Meredith, both of Ripley. Ben's favorite classes are gym and technology. He enjoys wrestling and playing football. In the time spent away from school, he spends his time mudding and working on cars. Ben admires Brian Westbrook, running back for the Philadelphia Eagles. Ben's dream is to become a UFC fighter, and so it makes sense that he chose Cain Velasquez, who is the UFC Heavyweight Champion, as the person he would like to be for a day.

Teachers Amy Redman and Tara Reyda coordinate the Student of the Month recognition program in the secondary school.
