Marjorie Amelia Dikeman

MAYVILLE - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marjorie (Marge) Amelia (Hartmann) Dikeman of Mayville NY on October 28th, 2013. She was born September 16, 1928 in Pittsburgh Pa. to John and Mary (Haas) Hartmann. The loving and devoted wife of George E. Dikeman for over 67 years, married July 25, 1946.

At the time of her passing she was a resident at The Heritage Green Rehab. & Skilled Nursing Facility in Greenhurst NY.

Mom graduated from Mayville Central High School in 1946. At one time she and George owned and operated The Coffee Shop in Mayville for 8 years. Mom was an award winning Avon Representative for 13 years. She also held various positions throughout the community which included First Nat'l Bank, the Chautauqua County Court House, Ethan Allen and The American Legion.

She was a member of The Amdikeman obiterican Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mom loved to bowl and was a member of the American Bowling Congress, winning several trophies. She also enjoyed music, collecting, and spending time with friends at the American Legion and VFW.

Mom will be remembered as a wonderful cook and as a hard working, kind, and loving person who made this world a better place for those that had the good fortune to be around her. She was a gentle lady with a great deal of pride in her family.

She is survived by her husband, and a brother David Hartmann, sons Donald (Sheila) Dikeman and Thomas Dikeman (Seneca) as well as her grand children Dawn (Dr. Keary) Howard, Melissa (Bill) Emerson, Janel Stoica (Joey), Jelena Dikeman (Randy), Jared Dikeman (Michelle), Jenna (Mark) Vendetti and many nephews, nieces, and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Philip Hartmann and sisters Melissa (Lis) Waterhouse, Susan Miller, Betty Cuppini, and Jean Monaco.

The family would like to give special thanks for the wonderful care provided to mom by the Doctors, Nurses, and Dawn Keefer and her Lakeside staff at Heritage Green and by Lucy and Debby and their staff from Hospice Chautauqua County. They made a very difficult time much more bearable.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Rev. Cathy Smith, Chaplain with Hospice Chautauqua County will officiate. Burial will be in the Westfield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday prior to the funeral service in the funeral home.
