Robert "Bob" Ducato, has been elected to serve the Southwestern Division of Kiwanis for the administrative year Oct. 1, 2013 through Sept. 30, 2014. The election was done by the 10 clubs serving in the division. The division includes clubs in Olean, Salamanca, Falconer, Jamestown, Lakewood, Cassadaga Valley, Gowanda, Siver Creek, Northern Chautauqua of Fredonia, and Westfield-Ripley, of Westfield.
Bob joined Kiwanis Oct. 4, 1974 and has served as a Club Secretary for 38 years. He has been a Club President in the administrative year 1978-79; Lt. Governor in 1985-86, again in 2001-02, and presently. He has held several district wide chairmanships, 17 altogether, and has served as a member of the New District Foundation Board of Directors from 1987-1993. He has been a certified trainer for Kiwanis since its inception and actually assisted in developing the first club training program in 1984. He was awarded life membership in Kiwanis in 1990, is Hixon Fellow, Heritage Society member and a Zeller Fellow through the Kiwanis Internatonal Foundation. He is also a Kaiser fellow of the New York District Foundation of Kiwanis international.
Serving as a Lt. Governor is an honor that many Kiwanians have had and continues to be the role that provides much continuity between local clubs, the district and Kiwanis International. Just some of the roles that local clubs will be able to work in this year will be JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation ), Autism and the irradication of Neonatal Tetnus (NMT) through the Eliminate Project; sponsored by the Kiwanis International Foundation. Bob is a resident of Westfield and has been a representative for the New York Life Insurance Company for more than 37 years he will complete 38 years on March 23, 2014. He came to Westfield, as a store manager for the former WT Grant Company on June 14, 1974 and operated the store until its closing Dec. 22, 1975. He served on the store closing task force from then until March 23, 1976 when he began his careet with the New York Life.
Bob is married to Marcia M Ducato and has two children, Aileen Flach and Christine Roggenbaum, and three grandchildren, Landon and Luca Flach are Aileen's children and Ethan is Christine's step-son.
Bob is looking forward to a strong Kiwanis year and has made himself available to anyone interested in learning about the local organization.
