Chicken BBQ sponsored by project "Love Bear"

Project "Love Bear" is a non profit organization that provides over 200 children with new coats, hats, gloves, scarves, clothing and items on their Christmas list for the children of Ripley, NY.

The Chicken Bar-B-Que will be held at Crossroads Craft & Farm Market on Saturday, Sept. 28. Dinner will include chicken, potato salad, home-made applesauce, roll and butter, dessert and beverage. The price is $8.50 per dinner. Chicken Barbeque will begin at 12:00 until it's sold out.

Community tennis

Enjoy tennis every Monday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Meet at the courts behind Westfield Academy and Central School to play tennis. The plan is to have enough people to organize several double matches.

Mayville T.O.P.S meeting

Mayville T.O.P.S NY 1337 meets every Tuesday at the Mayville United Methodist Church on South Erie St. Weigh in starts at 5 p.m., with program starting at 5:30 p.m. Join in to Take Off Pounds Sensibly with a great support group, fun contests and awards. Any questions, call 753-3419 or 386-6075.

Westfield T.O.P.S. meeting

Defensive driving in Brocton

The Ahira Hall Memorial Library at 37 W. Main St. in Brocton is sponsoring a defensive driving class on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the library. Cost to attend the class is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non AARP members payable by check only to AARP. Class size is limited so those interested in attending should call 792-9418 as soon as possible to register. Any licensed driver may take the class and receive an insurance reduction and possible point reduction.

Parkinson's support group at Westfield Memorial Hospital

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Beginner's Quilting Class at the Ripley Free Library

Join our Beginner's Quilting Class at the Ripley Free Library. The class meets every Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. If you've always wanted to learn how to quilt but thought it was too complicated, now is your chance to mark it off your bucket list. For more information call 736-3913."

The Hartfield Ladies Auxiliary will be having a "Christmas Arts & Crafts in October" On Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Hartfield Vol. Fire Co. on Elmwood Road in Hartfield, NY from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Fundraiser for Apple Seed Christian Preschool

Apple Seed Christian Preschool will be holding their annual 5K walk/run on Saturday Oct. 5. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins promptly at 9 a.m. The cost is $20 for pre-registration, $25 on the day of the race. Please contact 716-326-3110 for more information.

Kiwanis Chicken and Biscuits

On Wednesday, Oct. 9 Kiwanis Service and Leadership Programs will be hosting Chicken and Biscuits at St. Dominic's RC Church in Westfield, NY. The cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-14 and children under 4 are free. The event is being held to support Autism research. Please come help support this worthy cause!

Murder Mystery Coming in October

Ripley Free Library presents "Happy Deathday To You" at the Noble Winery on Oct. 12. Tickets are on sale at $18.50 per person or $35.00 for two at the Ripley Free Library. Price of the ticket includes a glass of wine, a delicious dinner and a night of entertainment.
