The second annual Friends of Education Fund Road Rally/Scavenger Hunt held on Aug. 17 is in the books and was a success. Six teams competed for prizes, trophies and the coveted Grand Prize Trophy. The winning team this year consisted of Brenda Backus, Ellen LaPorte and Maria Resnick. The teams were led through the streets of Westfield by a series of clues all with a movie theme. For example: "This street is not a nightmare but he is" which led them to Elm Street to search for the hidden "Freddy Krueger". We would like to give a special thank you to Steve and Stephanie Holt for giving him a "home" for the day. We would also like to thank the following for their donations, which helped make this event a success: Jimmy's Pizza, Eric & Marie Edwards, Dr. Mark & Phyllis Hagen, Sarah Button, Geri Beers, Sydnie Alexander and WACS Parent Connection. We are already looking forward to next year's Rally.
The Friends of Education Fund works as a partnership with WACS Parent Connection and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation to help provide funds for teachers and students of the Westfield Academy and Central School district to continue special programs and initiatives, capital projects and teacher innovation grants. The money raised will be directed toward areas that cannot be adequately supported without private funding. The Fund is actively seeking donations as well as volunteers. If you would like to volunteer or donate we can be reached at Friends of Education Fund, PO Box 102, Westfield, NY 14787 or contact a member of the Parent Connection. Parent Connection meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the WACS Large Group Instruction Room all are welcome.
