Kids' summer program
Calling all kids ages 4-11. Lakeshore Assembly of God Church, located at 252 E. Main St, in Westfield, will be holding "Adventure Land, the Valley of Choices," a Western-themed program from July 24th until the end of summer, meeting every Wednesday evening, from 6:30-7:45 p.m. This outdoor outreach program will include Bible teachings about good choices, using Western character puppets, skits and music, along with contests, prizes and refreshments. Parkinson's support group at Westfield Memorial Hospital
Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Mayville Senior Citizens
The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.
Beginner's Quilting Class at the Ripley Free Library

Stand with the Steeple chicken BBQ
Sherman Community Church will be holding an old fashion chicken barbaque on Saturday, Sept. 7 at their 107 Church Street location in Sherman. The event runs from 3:30 p.m. until the food is gone and will be held rain or shine. The prices are $8 for an adult (1/2 chicken) and $6 for children (1/4 chicken). All meals are served with macaroni salad, baked beans, rolls and homemade pies. Takeouts will be available. Proceeds from the evnt will help defray the costs of reapairing the church's steeple.

Monday, Sept. 9
Enjoy tennis every Monday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m., weather permitting. Meet at the courts behind Westfield Academy and Central School to play tennis. The plan is to have enough people to organize several double matches.
Westfield Community Chorus begins rehearsal
The Westfield Community Chorus invites old and new members to join together Monday, Sept. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. for the first rehearsal at the Westfield First United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Westfield Wellness Walkers
Join the Westfield Family Physicians' Westfield Wellness Walkers for a themed walk around town. Weekly Tuesday evening walks with a theme will start at 6:30 p.m. from June 11 through Aug. 13 with rain date of Aug 20. Meet at WFP parking lot, 138 E. Main St. Walks will be 1.5 to 3 miles and are open to all ages and abilities. All participants will be entered into a weekly drawing. Each week will focus on a healthy theme with a take away tip.

Chautauqua County history series
Elements of Chautauqua County's early history will be explored in a special non-credit series offered Wednesdays, Sept. 4-18, at Jamestown Community College's Jamestown Campus.
Each session meets from 6-8 p.m. in the Carnahan Center. The fee is $59. To register, call JCC's Center for Continuing Education, 338-1005.
Public history, historical resources and the settlement of Chautauqua County will be outlined by presenters Jon Schmitz, Jon Martoni and county historian Michelle Henry. The series focuses on the first settler, the earliest years of settlement, the Holland Land Company and the formation of Chautauqua County's government.

Defensive driving in Brocton
The Ahira Hall Memorial Library at 37 W. Main St. in Brocton is sponsoring a defensive driving class on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the library. Cost to attend the class is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non AARP members payable by check only to AARP. Class size is limited so those interested in attending should call 792-9418 as soon as possible to register. Any licensed driver may take the class and receive an insurance reduction and possible point reduction.
