‘Happy Grams’ spread cheer at Westfield Senior Day Program

The Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, 'Happy Grams' choir resonated the walls of the Westfield YWCA when they visited to perform for participants of the Westfield Senior Day Program and the YWCA Childcare Program. Hands clapped, feet tapped and smiles beamed as a wide variety of music was enjoyed by children, seniors and everybody in between. The Happy Grams choir consists of participants from the Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. Taft Center in Jamestown. They are a spirited group of young hearted seniors who have banded together to become a singing group that goes out in the community and spreads happiness and cheer through song. They perform popular tunes, ranging from folksy favorites like "My Bonny Lies over the Ocean" to patriotic anthems like "God Bless America" and have performed throughout the county for many organizations, nursing homes and programs. Reactions from the Westfield Senior Day program participants and the children indicate that Happy Grams will certainly be visiting again in the future. In addition, the Westfield Senior Day Program, actively has Intergenerational Programming where children get to spend time together with the older adults for activities, socialization and most of all, fun.

Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. offers senior day programs for adults 60 years of age and older who live in the community. The day programs enable seniors to have quality of life through socialization and activity programming. The sites provide breakfast, snack and a hot noon time meal for participants. There is also a Community Recreation Program that helps persons participate in outings in the community and the sites offer pet therapy, ceramics, music programs, arts and crafts and much more on an ongoing basis. The Chautauqua Adult Day Care Centers, Inc. is a not-for-profit United Way agency and community partner that provides an affordable option for older adults in the community to remain independent and at home
