Co-chairpersons Linda M. Barber and Fred Gregory announce that the 27th Annual Chautauqua Golf Club Pro-Am Golf Tournament was held on June 24. The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy was the beneficiary of this year's tournament, with $28,000 raised for the Conservancy's Whitney Bay and Point shoreline wetland conservation projects, stream and lakeshore landowner erosion control and vegetative buffer conservation outreach and other conservation activities. The tournament featured WNY golf professionals paired with amateurs in a team competition, as well as individual competition for the men and women professionals. A total of 139 golfers participated in the event.
The winning men's foursome included amateurs Ron Kilpatrick, David Bird and Stu Northrup and PGA pro golfer Mike Frisina. The women's pro-am event was won by amateurs Colleen Reeve, Dale Matthews and Julie Lescynski and pro golfer Kathy Cassese. Kirk Stauffer of Pine Acres Country Club shot a 68 and Cindy Miller of the Wherle Dome shot a 75 to win the professional events.
The tournament was sponsored by 47 businesses and individuals, with major sponsorship from Cummins Engine. The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is a local, grass roots not-for-profit land conservation, watershed education and pollution prevention organization with the mission to preserve and enhance the water quality, scenic beauty and ecological healthy of the lakes, streams and watersheds of the Chautauqua region. It works with landowners to conserve and enhance healthy landscapes to deliver clean waters to ground waters, lakes and streams.
