Ripley honors Paul with Feiss Award

August 8, 2013
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

At the Ripley Central School Athletic Awards Ceremony, which was held on June 10, 2013 at the school, the Town of Ripley's Park, Recreation and Education Committee honored Patrick Paul as the 2013 recipient of the Clair Feiss Memorial Award. This recognition was presented by Ryleigh Hawkins, Paul's granddaughter and RCS sophomore student.

The Clair Feiss Memorial Award is given annually in remembrance of a man who was dedicated to his family and to the youth of Ripley. Volunteering one's time represents the spirit of the Ripley community and the spirit of Clair Feiss, who participated in tennis, football, basketball, volleyball and baseball, and who was a 1967 graduate of Ripley Central School. After graduating from high school, Feiss served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne for four years, including one year in Vietnam. He then settled back in Ripley with his family.

Feiss was always a big sports enthusiast. He loved spending time working with the youth of Ripley, handing out lots of positive feedback and encouraging the kids to continue in pursuing their dreams. He wanted to pass on the belief in one's positive thinking and determination to the young athletes in Ripley.

The town, school, community and youth of Ripley are proud to honor Patrick Paul with the 2013 Clair Feiss Memorial Award

Tragically in an accident, Feiss was taken too soon from his family, his friends and the Ripley community. However, the memory of Feiss will live on forever through the presentation of the Clair Feiss Memorial Award. This award, which has been presented annually since 1979 by the Town of Ripley, is given to a Ripley adult who donates his or her time in an unpaid volunteer capacity in order to benefit the youth of Ripley.

The town, school, community and youth of Ripley are proud to honor Patrick Paul with the 2013 Clair Feiss Memorial Award and they congratulate him on this recognition and thank him for his many hours of volunteer service.

The Town of Ripley Park, Recreation and Education Committee is currently seeking new members. Those interested in serving on this committee are asked to contact the Ripley Town Clerk at 716-736-6881.
