David Himelein announced today he is the Republican candidate for Chautauqua County Legislator from the new District 18 representing the towns of Chautauqua, Sherman and Mina. For the past three years he has represented District 21 which includes Mina, Clymer, French Creek and Ripley.
Mr. Himelein brings proven leadership to his new district as he currently holds the position of Republican Asst. Majority Leader as well as Chairman of the Public Facilities Committee and a member of the Audit and Control Committee. He is also Past Vice-Chairman of the Public Safety Committee.
Mr. Himelein states he is committed to holding the line on local taxes in spite of unfunded state mandates. As Public Facilities Chairman he understands the importance of keeping DPW operations in Sherman to immediately respond to local highway conditions. Controlling the weeds in both Chautauqua and Findley Lake is vital to expand the local economies.
He is active in local and state organizations including the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, Past President and permanent member of the Chautauqua County Fire Chiefs Assoc., Past Chairman of Chautauqua County Fire Advisory Board, member of the Findley Lake Fire Dept.(Past Chief), Board member of the Mina-Findley Lake Historical Society.
Mr. Himelein is a life-long resident of Findley Lake, retiring from a local international company after a forty-one year career with experience in accounting and manufacturing supervision. He is married to his wife Joan and they have two grown daughters and two granddaughters.
