SHERMAN - On 7/21/13 Sheriff's Deputies along with the New York State Police were investigating an incident that occurred on Rt. 76 in the Town of Sherman. Through the investigation, James L. Linger was arrested for Second Degree Menacing. It is alleged that Linger pointed a loaded firearm at the victim and made threats placing the victim in fear of injury or death. Linger was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the Sherman Town Court at a later date.

WESTFIELD - On 7/19/13 deputies observed a vehicle in the Village of Westfield that was operated by Skyler Miller, who had an outstanding warrant from Chautauqua County Probation and a felony warrant from the Town of Ripley. Deputies and WPD made contact with Miller on Clinton Street and Miller was found to allegedly be intoxicated. Further investigation showed that Miller was also allegedly in possession of numerous prescription pills and marihuana. Miller was charged with DWI, DWI per se having a BAC of .08% or higher, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th, in addition to the other charges that Miller had warrants for. Miller was committed to CCJ and will answer the new charges in the Village of Westfield court.

WESTFIELD - Skyler Miller, 26, of Maple Avenue, Ripley, was charged at 10:07 p.m. on Friday with driving while intoxicated, a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Deputies observed a vehicle operated by Miller, who had outstanding warrants from Chautauqua County Probation and Ripley Court. After a traffic stop with Westfield police, Miller was found to be intoxicated and in possession of marijuana and prescription pills. She was committed to Chautauqua County Jail and will be in Westfield Court to answer the charges at a later date.

SHERMAN - James L. Linger, 37, of Sherman was charged with second-degree menacing at 10 p.m. Sunday. Deputies were dispatched with New York State Police to an incident on Route 76 in Sherman. It is alleged that Linger pointed a loaded firearm at a victim and made threats placing the victim in fear of injury or death. Linger will appear in Sherman Town Court at a later date.

WESTFIELD - CCSO Responded to a two vehicle personal injury crash on Rt 5 in the Town of Westfield. Upon investigation it was found the vehicle operated by Fredricks was eastbound at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass several vehicles on the right hand side. Fredricks vehicle struck one of the vehicles that was operated by Schaack in the rear then continued on through a fence in a yard and then into a hedgerow. Fredricks was extracted from the vehicle by Westfield rescue and flown to Hamot for treatment of his injuries. Schaack was transported to Westfield hospital for non life threatening injuries.

MAYVILLE - Back on December 13th, 2012 a residence was broken into at 162 Sea Lion drive in Mayville. A large coin collection was stolen at this time. The Sheriff's Office conducted a several month investigation that alleges the above Randall Rothwelll Jr was the one who committed this crime. Rothwell entered and remained in this residence long enough to steal the coin collection then took the coins into the City of Jamestown where a large quantity of them were cashed in for dollars and the other ones were taken to a local pawn shop for money. The Sheriff's Office were able to recover a portion of the coins. Rothwell was arrested and arraigned on the charge of burglary 2nd and was committed to CCJ lieu of $20,000 cash and $40,000 property. Investigation is continuing and others are expected to be arrested.
