At the end of "What would Mr. Hancock" say you mention, "mix of printed and cursive called "italic." That is an almost accurate description of the practical solution to today's handwriting blues. What appears to be a printed lowercase alphabet are letters formed by the most natural movements of the hand. These easy to teach and learn letters never change shape or direction of strokes to join up for a cursive italic.
