As the sun sets on the Children's Safety Village this coming Halloween season, the pleasant andbustling child friendly atmosphere of the Village will quickly disappear with the sun, leaving in its place a quiet and unsettling stillness. As darkness falls, the Village turns into something that nightmares are made of. This year the Children's Safety Village invites area businesses, organizations and community groups to take part in the 2nd annual Town of Terror event to compete for a chance to win $1,000!!
Your challenge ? To form a team and use your creativity to decorate the most terrifying, haunted
building in the Village.(Building sizes are 16'x18' or 12'x24'). Create your own theme and creatures who will terrify those who enter. All guests who dare to come through the haunted village will vote on their favorite, most terrifying building at the end of their tour. The team with the most votes at the end of the contest wins $1000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place, which may be kept or donated to their favorite charity. Encourage co-workers, family and friends to come and vote for your building! Winners will be announced on Halloween.
When is it? The Town of Terror will operate every Friday and Saturday between October 12th and
October 26th from 8:00pm-11:00pm (6 total nights). Teams may solicit other volunteers to help during the nights of the event. Students, 9th grade and older, from any of the Chautauqua County
Schools or colleges who help with this event will be offered community service hours. Teams mustenter the contest by August 9, 2013. Applicants will have the opportunity to share their ideas with the Safety Village committee on August 13th and 14th. Contest acceptance notifications will be made to applicants by August 16, 2013.

The Chautauqua Children's Safety Education Village is located in Ashville, NY. It is a not-for-profit organization which was formed in 1996. The DFT Communications Educational Facility, where classes are held, is surrounded by a child-sized village, complete with a business district, paved roads, street signs, sidewalks and everything you would find in an actual Village. The purpose of the Safety Village is to educate children, primarily in the areas of Traffic, Bike and Fire Safety. Our goal is to decrease the number of unnecessary injuries and unfortunate fatalities in our community by allowing children to experiencehands-on lessons that they will remember.
The Safety Village is sustained through fundraising efforts, grants and donations from a generous community. All donations are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated. Together we can make a difference in the lives of children in our community.
