PORTLAND - At the recently completed Pacific Rim International Wine Competition held in San Bernardino, Calif., 21 Brix Winery earned 13 medals and one Best of Class Award.
Seven of the 13 medals won were gold, a feat which does not occur often at wine competitions. Ella's Red, Thirsty Elephant, Ella's White, Vidal Ice Wine, Noiret, Gewurztraminer and Dry Riesling were all gold medal winners in their respective classes.
In addition to a gold medal, the Vidal Ice Wine earned a Best of Class Award as well. The winery also received five silver medals for their Cabernet Sauvignon, Ellatawba, Semi Dry Riesling, Cherry and Raspberry wines. Bronze medals were awarded to Sweet Riesling and Cayuga.
"It was exciting to hear that our wines did so well at the Pacific Rim competition," winemaker and co-owner of 21 Brix Winery Kris Kane said. "This is the first time I have won seven gold medals in a wine competition which was judging wines from all over the world."
Thirty nationally recognized wine judges from wine regions spanning from New York to Virginia, Texas to California and Missouri comprised the tasting panel. More than 2,000 wines were sampled and scored during this international competition.
