The month of June has been different this year than it often is. We have had several very warm days, then rainy ones repeatedly. Once again last week we had rain, and I was thankful for it because my flower beds needed it. Nevertheless I was glad when the pattern changed again and sunshine reappeared. I finally got all the annual flowers planted and am enjoying them. However, we had an unwelcome visitor last Friday morning.
We had not seen any bears for several years, but that morning one visited our backyard feeders. It was larger than the ones we saw several years ago. It had gotten one of the feeders down and was leisurely laying down dining on the black oil sunflower seeds.
After watching it for a while, I opened the back door and it ran under the fence and down the woodland trail towards the creek. I suppose we'll have to take the feeders down for a few days hoping it will decide to go elsewhere for its meals. I was going to take a picture of it, but my camera battery was dead.
Speaking of pictures, last week I was searching all of the boxes of pictures I have taken over the years. Not only do I have pictures I took, I also have those our moms took during their lifetime and even some that came from our grandparents. Thus it didn't take long to have my study covered with thousands of them completely covering the floor.
Unfortunately, some of them do not have anything written on them, and sometimes I can't rightly identify who they are of or where I took the pictures. I take a lot of scenery ones, some repeatedly, especially in and around our home. It seems like the flowers, birds, animals and all I witness just outside my door get more lovely every year. I can't resist snapping pictures of it all. But, I have a big problem - I never get them all organized. As a plaque in my kitchen says, "I'm much to busy to be organized."
The past few years I've been trying to get the pictures pertaining to our kids and grandkids sorted and put into manila envelopes according to each family. It's a good start, but if I give them to the kids, what will I do when I need some to go with a feature? Oh well, I suppose I could get one from one of the kids.
No doubt some of them have theirs organized in albums. Nevertheless, I probably won't ever get my pictures all neatly organized, but I can always sit on the floor and search for the right one if I can still sit on the floor and get up again. It's fun in a way because I love looking at each one again. That's why it takes so long to find the one I want. It's all good entertainment as is reading good books. That's why my days are so busy.
