WESTFIELD - On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month.
Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria: follows Westfield's Rules of Respect for staff and peers; shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects; prepared daily to participate in all classes; serves as a positive role model for peers; and demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship.
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of April.
This month the sixth grade recipient is Daryl Irwin. In school Daryl enjoys his science class because they get to learn about interesting topics like weather and space. In his spare time he enjoys collecting rocks and beach glass, reading, fishing with dad and helping mom at the fish house. In the future Daryl hopes to do well in school, continue the family tradition of fishing and the family business going.
Ania Nichols received this honor for the seventh grade. In school she enjoys her science and computer classes because they both involve fun activities and projects. She enjoys reading in her spare time, especially mystery books. A goal she has for the future is to become a veterinarian or animal rescuer.
At the eighth grade level Simon Williams received this honor. In school he enjoys his science class because of one of his teacher's sense of humor. Outside of the classroom Simon enjoys staying active with sports including football, basketball and track. In the future Simon hopes to attend medical school and become an optometrist.
The Westfield school and community offer their congratulations to these outstanding students.
