NORTH HARMONY - Francisco Alicia-Vargas, 48, of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail as being a fugitive from justice on Monday, June 17.
According to the police office, a trooper pulled over a vehicle on I-86 in North Harmony for an alleged traffic violation. While checking the license of the driver, Alicia-Vargas, the trooper received a response advising him Alicia-Vargas was allegedly wanted by the Erie, Pa., Police Department for several charges. Alicia-Vargas was arrested and transported to State Police Jamestown. After processing, Alicia-Vargas was arraigned in North Harmony Town Court and remanded to the jail.
PORTLAND - Virginia Barnes, 40, of Erie, Pa., was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and failing to submit to a breath screen on Sunday, June 23.
According to the police office, Barnes was allegedly parked on the south shoulder of the road on State Route 20 in the Town of Portland when a trooper stopped to check on her. She was apparently lost and could not find her way back home. After allegedly failing field sobriety tests she was arrested for DWI. She was processed at the barracks and her blood alcohol content was allegedly found to be 0.25 percent. She was issued tickets and is due in Portland Town Court on Tuesday, July 16.
