WESTFIELD Big Daddy's of Dunkirk won its first ever championship at the 14th annual Woody Keyser Open Modified Tournament held in Westfield on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2.
Big Daddy's went 4-0 behind consistent hitting, solid fielding and the pitching of Bobby Honaker.
The young bats of the Dunkirk Fastpitch league broke out early by defeating Woody's of Westfield 17-1. Next, it defeated in-town rival Dunkirk Fastpitch 13-10. Then it defeated the third place winner, Larry's Cantina of Westfield 7-3 in the winners bracket final.

In the finals, Big Daddy's matched up against AJ's Bayview Inn of Erie, Pa., which, after dropping its first game, won four straight to reach the finals. Much like the earlier games, Big Daddy's jumped out to an early lead scoring eight runs after two innings. The early lead was all Honaker needed as he struck out five on the way to a 9-3 tournament clinching victory.
At the plate throughout the weekend, Vinny Bomasuto (HR, 7 RBI), Adam Kubasik (5 RBI, 5 R), Bob Calph, Jr. (7 R, 4 BB), Nick Ahlstrom (HR, 5 RBI, 4 R), Mike Tarnowski (5 RBI, 5 R), Bryan Watts (5 R, 4 RBI) and others helped clinch their first championship trophy.
