Mary Alice Jackson

Mary Alice Fenwick Jackson, age 92, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Westfield, N.Y., passed away peacefully on June 13, 2013.

Mary Alice was born on April 28, 1921, in Ilion, N.Y., to Charles Henry Fenwick and Alice Frances Powers. Mary Alice met her husband on a blind date and they were wedded within a year. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in business education from Albany State Teachers College, now SUNY at Albany, in August 1945. Her last class was the day the war ended.

She taught business education at Pawling Public High School in New York, Watertown High

School in New York, Norwood Central School in New York, Mokena Middle School and St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Mokena, Ill. She received her Master's Degree in education from Fredonia State, or SUNY at Fredonia, in 1970.

She taught in the business department at Dunkirk High School for 13 years, retiring in 1984.

Mary Alice and her husband Bob moved to Sun Lakes shortly after they retired in 1984.

Mary Alice and Bob were founding members of St. Stevens Parish in Sun Lakes.

She was active in St. Steven's parish for many years including being among the original founders of the Legion of Mary. Mary Alice also volunteered for many community activities including Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her son, Charles Jackson and wife Joanne of Erie; her daughter, Christine Frazon and husband Jim of Chandler; son, Scott Jackson and wife Elaine of Wilmington, Del.; daughter-in-law, Anne Dreier Jackson of Phoenix; grandchildren, Walter, Matthew, Charles and wife Shauna, Kyle and wife Crystal, Tara, Britta, Aaron, Meredith and husband Spencer, Becca and Brendon; and great-grandchild, Finn.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robert Charles Jackson; and her son, Robert J. Jackson.

A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Steven's Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd., Sun Lakes at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 17, with a celebration of her life immediately following the mass at Sandy Place Proshop Lounge at Sun Lakes Country Club Phase No. 1. Friends called from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the funeral mass. Burial was private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Catholic Charities or The St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Steven's Parish, 24827 S. Dobson Rd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248
