CLYMER - Thomas R. Heiser has been named valedictorian and Brittany Kirsten Reitz has been named salutatorian for the Clymer Central School Class of 2013 by the Board of Education.
Thomas Heiser, son of Marcus and Julia Heiser of Einink Rd., Clymer, has been named the class valedictorian with a GPA of 97.02 percent. He graduates with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors Distinction. He has sequences in math, science, Spanish and technology.
Heiser was the recipient of an Academic Excellence Award, the University of Rochester's Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology, the RIT Computing Medal and the Rensselaer Medal. He also received recognition as the Jamestown Community College's College Connections Student of the Year for 2012 and 2013. Heiser was a member of Clymer's All-Western New York Academic Team.
Heiser was a member of the Clymer football, basketball and baseball teams. He attended passing camp at Lock Haven University this past summer for football. He was also a member of the Trap Club.
Heiser has participated in numerous clubs and activities throughout his high school years. He was a member of Student Council, FFA, National Honor Society and AFS. He served as president and treasurer of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He participated in both the junior and senior plays and community play. He is member of the Teens on Fire youth group.
Heiser has completed numerous hours of community service. A few include a mission trip to West Virginia with Teens on Fire, being a Big Buddy at CCS and ringing the Salvation Army Bell.
Heiser has worked on his grandfather's farm throughout high school. His junior and senior years, he was also employed by Willink Landscaping and David Damcott Construction.
Heiser will be attending Gannon University in Erie, Pa., this fall. He will enroll in the physician's assistant program.
Brittany Reitz, daughter of Joel and Patti Reitz of Church St., North Clymer, is the class salutatorian with a GPA of 94.97 percent. She will receive a Regents Diploma with a Career and Technical Endorsement. She has sequences in English, math, science and cosmetology.
Reitz received the 2012 Student Sage Award from Sage Colleges. She was a member of Clymer's All-Western New York Academic Team. She received the Boys and Girls Club Citizenship Award and the Jamestown Optimist Club Award.
Reitz was a football cheerleader throughout high school. She also played basketball.
Reitz was a member of the Student Council and served as president of that organization. She was active in National Honor Society and a member of the National Technical Honor Society as well. She participated in the senior class play. She is an active member of the North Clymer United Methodist Church.
Reitz has been involved in community service activities. She rang the Salvation Army Bell and was a server at the 50's diner for the Clymer Historical Society.
Reitz has worked throughout high school as a waitress at the Dutch Village Restaurant.
Reitz will attend Genesee Community College in Batavia where she will major in fashion merchandising.
Clymer's graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 21 at 7 p.m. in the Clymer Central School Student Performance Center. The graduation speaker is Collin Agee.
