Westfield Community Kitchen holding special lunch celebrate 20 years

June 19, 2013
Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

WESTFIELD - The Westfield Community Kitchen has been filling the bellies of local people and families for 20 years.

To celebrate, the kitchen will hold a celebration lunch on Thursday, June 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Everyone and anyone in the community is welcome to join at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 12 Elm St., Westfield.

Since opening in 1993, the Kitchen has served over 200,000 meals to over 24,000 people. In 2012, it served 8,539 meals to 2,480 guests. The kitchen is open and serves lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Anyone needing a meal is welcome.

None of this would be possible without all those who have donated money, time, food or goods and especially the staff and volunteers over the past 20 years.

Financial donations - or food or goods, call to inquire - are always needed and welcome. And there is always a need for cooks, including prep cooks, with no experience required. If interested, call Scott Brasted at 753-6926.
