WESTFIELD - The Westfield Senior Citizens met Thursday, May 9 at the YWCA at 6 p.m., where 26 members attended and enjoyed a delicious meal served by the Union Relief Organization.
The meeting was called to order by President Shirley Kolpien. As devotions, Chaplain Joyce Wainwright read two pieces, "God's Eternal Love" by Delorse Karides and "Morning Renewal" by Alice Hansche Mortenson.
Celebrating May birthdays were Al Wainwright and Carol Young. John and Shirley Kolpien have an anniversary. A sympathy card was sent to Erma Lloyd. A memorial in the name of Richard Lloyd was given to the Canine Rescue unit.
John Osterhoudt won the 50/50 drawing and Betty Reid the door prize. The meeting was followed by several games of bingo. The Hoitink family, schedule for the program, will now perform in September.
The Thursday, June 13 meeting will be at the YWCA at 6 p.m. This is a pot-luck where each member is asked to bring a dish to pass and table service. The kitchen committee only is to bring desserts. On the kitchen committee are Gladys Hess, Carol Reynolds, Joyce Wainwright, Betty Reid and Erma Lloyd. Entertainment will be provided by Kent Knappenberger, Westfield Academy and Central School music director.
The July picnic will be held out back of the YWCA, weather permitting. In case of rain, it will be held inside. Each member should bring an item for a silent auction.
