On June 3, 1959, the wedding of Miss Marilyn Alma Bassler and the Reverend Lyston Russell Knappenberger was held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Fulton, Md. The Reverend Harold Knappenberger, Sr., and the Reverend Theodore L. Menter performed the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred C. Bassler of Clarksville, Md. And the groom is the son of Reverend and Mrs. Harold L. Knappenberger, Sr., of Jamestown, N.Y.
After the reception for over 400 guests in the Parish Hall, the couple left for a honeymoon at Cape May, N.J.
The bride graduated from Howard High School in 1954 and was employed as a teller at the Central Bank of Howard County, Clarksville, Md., for five years before the wedding. She was the part-time secretary for seven years at the Howard Charge of the United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Md., and for five years at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulton, Md.

The groom is a graduate from Franklin High School, Franklin, Pa., in 1952. He graduated from the Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio in 1956 and received his Masters of Sacred Theology from Wesley Theology Seminary in Washington, D.C., on June 1, 1959. While in seminary, he served three years at the Howard United Methodist Charge in Clarksville, Md. His first appointment was at Asbury United Methodist Church in Waterford, Pa.
The Reverend and Marilyn now live in Westfield, N.Y. They will be married 54 years in June. Their children, Kent, Lon and Amber Brown also live in Westfield.
