RIPLEY - Ripley Central School hosted its first annual Hoops for Hospice event this year. The event benefits Hospice Chautauqua County, which provides end-of-life care for county residents.

Senior athletes Eric Horstman, Vincent Shioleno, Cody Rater and Danielle Chapman contributed to the cause. After hosting a game against Brocton, the Ripley Eagles raised $372 for Hospice Chautauqua County.

CEO of Hospice Chautauqua County Ron Sellars appreciates their assistance, in both raising money and awareness.

"People are touched by what we do, and sometimes they rise above thinking about doing something and they actually do it. We appreciate that," he said.

To help those struggling with life-limiting illnesses in the county and start a Hoops for Hospice event, or for more information on Hospice Chautauqua County services, call 338-0035.
