A Parent Memories

June 5, 2013
Tom Baideme - May 2013 , Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

I ache every time I see

The father of a fallen Vet

That we lost from here ago

And can see the hurting still

Lost the day before we got Ben Laden

Only added to the tragedy

A favorite son my daughter's age

That we'll never see again

This coming Memorial Day

Will surely bring back the pain

Of losing one so young to war

Halfway across the world

When his father sees me

He always greets me with a nod

Because I've written poems before

And given copies to him before

I've seen him other times before

Trying to enjoy some time with family

Only without a smile and little speak

Can see the memories behind the eyes

So I pray God eases the pain of memories

Of losing a loved one to an act of war

But hope the knowing he's in God's hand

Will bring some healing to their hearts
