Holiday weekend closure
The YWCA Westfield administrative offices, child care sites and programs will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. The YWCA Fitness Center will remain open and accessible via PIN codes.
The YWCA Child Services division will be marching in the Westfield Memorial Day Parade. Board members, staff, volunteers and members are all invited to join them. No reservations or pre-registration is required. Anyone joining the YWCA is invited to Moore Park for set up at 10 a.m. Consider wearing the YWCA colors of orange, white and black.
Hot cake dinner
In cooperation with the local McDonald's, the YWCA will be selling tickets for a Tuesday, June 4 pancake supper. Tickets are available at the main office of the YWCA and all YWCA child care sites. Tickets are $3 each for all-you-can-eat pancakes. Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m., and is dine-in only. All tickets are pre-sale only, and none will be sold at the door. Proceeds from the ticket sales will support the child services at the YWCA.
Families interested in YWCA summer child care, girls program and other classes offered at the YWCA are encouraged to visit Welch Field on Tuesday, June 4 or Thursday, June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. YWCA staff and volunteers will be on hand to enroll students in the YWCA programs. Information on other YWCA classes and programs will also be available at that time. For more details and additional information, contact the YWCA Child Services Office at 326-4012.
Father Daughter Dance
Tickets for the annual Father Daughter Dance are now available at the YWCA. Ticket price is $20 per couple and are pre-sale only and will not be available at the door. The dance will be held Saturday, June 15 in the YWCA gym from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Young ladies in kindergarten through fifth grade and their dads are invited to enjoy an evening of dancing. Grandfathers, uncles, cousins, brothers and other older adults are welcome as escorts as well. Refreshments will be served and each couple will be presented with a keepsake photo.
Arts and Crafts Festival
The 2013 dates for the YWCA Arts and Crafts Festival are set for Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27. This long running show will be held in Moore Park, rain or shine. Spaces remain and artists with high quality, hand crafted items for sale are encouraged to contact the YWCA at 326-2011 for an application and information packet. Entertainment in the gazebo is being offered and any groups interested in performing Friday or Saturday afternoon are invited to contact the Y.
Fitness members are encouraged to check their renewal dates and make sure their membership is current.
"We want to honor the visits people already have on their accounts, but visits only remain active if membership is current," YWCA Executive Director Katie Smith said. "We're moving into a new contract system and having a current membership is key to the transition."
Membership renewals can be made during business hours. The YWCA accepts checks, cash MasterCard and Visa. For more information about the new contracts or to learn more about the YWCA fitness center, call the office at 326-2011.
A variety of rooms are available for rent at the YWCA. Overnight accommodations can be arranged. The large assembly room, living room and kitchen can all be reserved for private parties and special occasion celebrations. To reserve a date, to arrange a tour or to learn more about the facility, call the main office at 326-2011.
