Local history enthusiasts are invited to attend a free technology workshop at Patterson Library with Nancy Ensign to learn how to access historical Westfield Newspapers on the Internet. Learn tips for searching, reading, printing and saving newspaper articles from the Patterson collection of 1826-1927 Westfield Newspapers, online at Bring a personal laptop or use one of the library computers. Registration is free, but call 326-2154 to sign up.

Viewing of illustrated panorama of history

A viewing of a very rare Adams Illustrated Panorama of History will take place from Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27 at the Williams Blue Lantern's 53rd annual barn sale, 1290 Route 426, Clymer, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A 21 foot long by 27 inch wide canvas scroll depicting over 5,800 years of civilization done in colored print and illustrations will be on display along with hundreds of antiques, collectables, books and general merchandise available for browsing.

Indoor yard, bake sale in Dewittville

The Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church, Route 430 and Meadows Rd., Dewittville, is holding its annual Memorial Day weekend indoor yard sale and bake sale on Friday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be lots of miscellaneous items for sale, and the baked goods are incredible.

Pig roast in Mayville

The Mayville First Baptist Church, 59 S. Erie St., Mayville will be holding its fifth annual pig roast on Saturday, May 25 beginning at noon. The event is for all community members and surrounding communities. A donation will be taken for the mission trip fund. For more information about the pig roast or the church, call 753-2842.

Sherman Yorker Museum opens

The Sherman Yorker Museum will open for Memorial Day on May 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and from then on every Saturday and Sunday until Labor Day from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum is located on the corner of Park and Church Streets and includes seven buildings full of artifacts and displays of yesteryear.

Mayville T.O.P.S meeting

Mayville T.O.P.S NY 1337 meets every Tuesday at the Mayville United Methodist Church on South Erie St. Weigh in starts at 5 p.m., with program starting at 5:30 p.m. Join in to Take Off Pounds Sensibly with a great support group, fun contests and awards. Any questions, call 753-3419 or 386-6075.

Ripley library yard sale

The Ripley Free Library will hold its annual yard sale on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8. Proceeds go to the summer reading program. The library will accept just about anything that is in good condition including furniture, toys, clothes, knick knacks, computers, electronic equipment, etc. Drop off donations during open hours of operations and thanks for the generosity.

Westfield Wellness Walkers

Join the Westfield Family Physicians' Westfield Wellness Walkers for a themed walk around town. Weekly Tuesday evening walks with a theme will start at 6:30 p.m. from June 11 through Aug. 13 with rain date of Aug 20. Meet at WFP parking lot, 138 E. Main St. Walks will be 1.5 to 3 miles and are open to all ages and abilities. All participants will be entered into a weekly drawing. Each week will focus on a healthy theme with a take away tip.

Parkinson's support group at Westfield Memorial Hospital

Westfield Memorial Hospital's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Mayville Senior Citizens

The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

The Westfield Senior Citizens meet on the second Thursday of the month at the YWCA Westfield at 6 p.m. For more information, call Shirley Kolpien at 326-3576.

Parkinson's support group at Absolut Care in Westfield

The Absolut Care of Westfield's Parkinson's Disease Support Group Meeting is held the second Thursday of the month in the Absolut Care Activity Room from 4 to 5 p.m.

Hartfield Fire Company barbecues

The Hartfield Fire Company will be holding monthly barbecues this summer. The barbecues are being held on the third Sunday of the month, June 16, July 21 and Aug. 18, at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Hall, Hartfield, off Route 430 two miles east of Mayville from noon until food is sold out.
