Peter J. Byrne, 57, of 265 Cole Ave., died Monday, May 13, 2013, in his home with his family following a long struggle with cancer.

A Jamestown resident since 1979, he was born June 5, 1955, the son of Paul and Clair Byrne. Pete was a 1974 graduate of Mechanicville High School and a 1978 graduate of Buffalo State, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in industrial technology.

As a scout leader and church youth leader, he loved to spend time with, and teach, his sons. A woodworker hobbyist, Pete derived great satisfaction in creating beautiful items for family and friends. He said the key to any successful project was to be patient and pay attention to details, which could also serve as a metaphor for his life.
