The Mayville Senior Citizens Club meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month at the Mayville VFW at noon. All area seniors 55 or older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and personal table service.

Westfield Republican Committee spring fundraiser
The Westfield Republican Committee is holding its seventh annual spring fundraiser at Noble Winery on Friday, May 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. Featured will be the wines of the host, a wide array of appetizers and the beautiful view of the vineyards of Lake Erie. Tickets will be available beginning in mid-April from any committee member, elected official or by calling Marilyn Hemmer at 326-3504.

Chicken barbecue in Sherman
The Sherman Community Church, 107 Church St., Sherman will hold an old fashion chicken barbecue on Saturday, Ma.y 18, rain or shine, from 4 p.m. until food is gone. The cost is $8 for adults for half a chicken and $6 for children for a fourth of a chicken. The meal also includes macaroni salad, baked beans, rolls and homemade pies. Take-outs are available. Proceeds will help defray the costs of repairing the church steeple.

Walk Multiple Sclerosis Northern Chautauqua
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host a Walk Multiple Sclerosis Northern Chautauqua at Russell Joy Park in Fredonia on Friday, May 19 to raise money for MS research. The event will go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested may register online at www.msupstateny.org.
Hartfield Fire Company barbecues
The Hartfield Fire Company will be holding monthly barbecues this summer. The barbecues are being held on the third Sunday of the month, May 19, June 16, July 21 and Aug. 18, at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Hall, Hartfield, off Route 430 two miles east of Mayville from noon until food is sold out.
Vietnam veterans meeting
Chapter No. 459 of the Vietnam Veterans of America will hold its only May meeting on Sunday, May 19 at John T. Murray VFW Post No. 1017, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk at 11 a.m. All Vietnam and Vietnam-era personnel are invited.

The Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church, Route 430 and Meadows Rd., Dewittville, is holding its annual Memorial Day weekend indoor yard sale and bake sale on Friday, May 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be lots of miscellaneous items for sale, and the baked goods are incredible.
