NORTH HARMONY - Jeremiah J. Kays, 25, of Erie, Pa., was committed to the Chautauqua County Jail on charges of improper plates, no helmet, unlicensed operation, unregistered motorcycle, no insurance, and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle on Thursday, May 2.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies stopped Kays on Route 394 in the Town of North Harmony for allegedly riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet around 2:30 p.m. After a short investigation, Kays was arrested. Kays was allegedly wanted by the state of Pennsylvania and was arraigned in North Town Harmony as a fugitive from justice as well as the above charges and was committed to jail.
PORTLAND - Ari Paff, 29, of Brocton was charged with driving while intoxicated common law, DWI per se 0.08 percent blood alcohol content or higher and fail to signal turn on Friday, May 3.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies allegedly observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn at the intersection of Webster Road and Route 380 in the Town of Portland around 1:30 a.m. The suspect vehicle was stopped, and Paff was allegedly found to be the operator. Further investigation allegedly found Paff to be intoxicated, which led to his arrest. Paff was released with traffic tickets and is to appear in Portland Town Court at a later date.
PORTLAND - Alex M. Simpson, 21, of Route 380 in Brocton was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana on Friday, May 3.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies were dispatched to the area of Furr Road in the Town of Portland for a physical altercation around 6:15 p.m. Deputies arrived on scene and searched the area for the subjects. A description of the vehicle was given and the vehicle was allegedly located at the Thayer Road Overlook Park. Deputies, along with sheriff K9, allegedly located the individuals involved in the altercation. One of the individuals involved in the altercation was allegedly identified as Simpson. Simpson was allegedly found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana during the investigation. Simpson was charged and will appear in Portland Town Court at a later date and time.
