Samuel J. "Sam" Allessie died at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. He formerly resided at 45 Clinton St., Fredonia.
Sam was born in North East, Pa., to the late Joe and Mary (DePaul) Allessie.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He married his late wife, Elo Allessie, on Dec. 11, 1943. Together, they owned and operated D & F Hair Fashions and Niener's Shoe and Watch Repair. He also was a member of the Fredonia Beaver Club.

Samuel is survived by his son, James, and his wife, Fran (St. George), Allessie of Ohio; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents, Sam was predeceased by two sisters.
His 10 a.m. mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, May 3 at St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia. Relatives and friends were invited to attend the funeral mass and call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82 East Main St., Fredonia, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dunkirk.
