Alfred Thieme

Alfred Thieme, 86, of French Creek, N.Y., passed away Thursday May 2, 2013, at Heritage Village, Gerry, N.Y.

He was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Findley Lake, N.Y., the son of the late Emil and Lena Huntley Thieme. Al married Betty Frank on Feb. 6, 1947 in Falconer, N.Y. He was proud to tell everyone he and his wife Betty celebrated 66 years of marriage on Feb. 6 at Heritage Village.

Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for over 30 years at Electric Materials in North East, Pa. After retiring, he and his wife Betty took a trip to Alaska with their close friends. They spent several weeks fishing, sightseeing and having a wonderful time.

Al was a member of the Mina Corners Christian Missionary Alliance Church. He enjoyed Christian music. He was a member of the Presque Isle Beagle Club and a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and loved growing vegetables and giving them away.

Al was always there for his children. He was there from giving a ride to babysitting or whatever anyone needed. He would lend a hand. He will be missed, but his family knows he is no longer sick and a special angel is watching over all of them.

Al is survived by four children, Robert (Mary) Thieme, Cheri (Bob) Fink, Donna (David) Samlock and Carol (Bill) Watson, all of Findley Lake, N.Y.; one sister, Evelyn (Richard) Gibbons of Jamestown, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Korinda (Doug) Wells, Kandy (Kevin) Polach, Jeridy (Tod) Truex, Adrianna, Destiny and Ariel Samlock, Randi and Morgan Watson; five great-grandsons, Alex, Patrick and Jackson Wells and Jamison Truex and Tanner Watson; three great-granddaughters, Dakota Truex, Harmony Polach and Jordyn Truex; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to his wishes, services will be held at the convenience of the family. No calling hours will be observed.

Memorials may be made to Findley Lake Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 158, Findley Lake, N.Y. 14736. Arrangements are being handled by the Spitzer Funeral Home, Clymer, N.Y.
