RIPLEY - Brenden Treacle has been named Ripley Central School's Student of the Month for March.
"Perseverance means to be steadfast, display self-discipline and commit to keep going in difficult circumstances. Brenden Treacle is the perfect Pre-K example of perseverance," teacher and nominator Wendy Graham said. "Brenden is rarely absent from school. We can count on him to be here regardless of rain or shine or deepest snow, even though he is a walker. Brenden smiles cheerfully as he works hard to get himself dressed in a warm snowsuit, hat, gloves and boots each day to protect him from the elements on the way home. The small motor skills required to do this at his age are still developing, but he is independent and gets ready all on his own.
"Brenden always does just what is asked of him. Always," Graham said. "And he does so with a smile on his face. Even if the task is difficult or takes a while to accomplish, Brenden will stick to it until he gets it. When others around him tire or get frustrated, Brenden will keep at a task and keep smiling the whole time.
Brenden Treacle, right, has been named Ripley Central School’s Student of the Month for March after being nominated by teacher and nominator Wendy Graham, left.
"Even when a friend has hurt his feelings, Brenden 'toughs it out' and keeps following the routine," Graham said. "I have had to drag out of him what was wrong, only to find out that a friend had pushed him and made him feel sad. Rather than get that friend in trouble, Brenden hung his head and kept going. I truly believe that the push didn't hurt him as much as the fact that his friend didn't say 'sorry.'
"Brenden is a big heart in a little body," Graham said. "He is steadfastly cheerful and a hard worker. I have no doubt that he will continue to be so, no matter what should befall him."
