Westfield Republican / Mayville Sentinel News

MAYVILLE - The Chautauqua County Reading Council is inviting area educators and interested individuals to its annual Spring Literacy Banquet on Wednesday, May 1 at Webb's Captain's Table in Mayville.

Registration is at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner and an author presentation.

This year's virtual presentation is with New York State author Kate Messner. Messner is an award-winning author. Some of her titles include "The Brilliant Fall of Gianna Z," winner of the 2010 E.B. White Read Aloud Award for Older Reader, along with "Spitfire," "Sugar and Ice" and "Capture the Flag." She has also written picture books and a book for teachers about writing titled "Real Revision."

Besides Messner's presentation, SUNY Fredonia literacy program students will present posters of their Master's projects and theses.

There will also be information on new literacy books and ideas for teachers and students and fun door prizes.

Join the CCRC for an evening of networking and literacy fun.

For additional information, contact CCRC Vice President Emily Gollnitz at egollnitz@ripley.wnyric.org.
