WESTFIELD - Fire services all over the country have been experiencing a drop in its volunteer ranks over the years.
In an effort to attract potential volunteers to the fire service, the Firemen's Association of the State of New York is sponsoring a statewide open house, asking local departments to open their doors and invite the public in to see what the fire service is all about.
The Westfield Volunteer Fire Department will be participating in this open house the weekend of Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28. Feel free to stop by either day between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 20 Clinton St. Members of the fire department will be in attendance to talk about the fire service.
Interested in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) only? A new policy has been enacted by the Board of Fire Commissioners with provisions for people interested in EMS only.
