BROCTON - Jefferey St. Lawton, 28, of Woodcrest Ave., Fredonia was charged with loud muffler, no insurance, fictious inspection sticker and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Friday, April 12.
According to the sheriff's office, Lawton was stopped for allegedly having a loud exhaust on West Main Street in the Village of Brocton around 9 p.m. Further investigation lead to the additional charges when a record checked allegedly revealed Lawton's license was suspended on March 18, 2012 for failure to pay a fine and again on Oct. 21, 2012 for insurance lapse. Lawton was issued traffic tickets and released. He will appear in Brocton Village Court on a later date.
HARMONY - Andrew J. Sheldon, 26, of Ashville was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or greater, move from lane unsafely and operating out of class on Sunday, April 14.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a report of single vehicle crash on Hoag Road in the Town of Harmony around 3:45 a.m. Upon investigation, it was allegedly learned Sheldon was operating a 1995 Subaru northbound when he drove off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. Deputies allege Sheldon was operating in an intoxicated condition and he was arrested for DWI. Sheldon was taken into custody and charged. He was released to a responsible third party and will appear in Harmony Town Court later.
ELLERY - Jeremy Ranney, 34, of Stockton was charged with use of cell phone and uninspected motor vehicle and Holly Roman, 40, of Brocton was charged with passing in no passing zone on Monday, April 15.
According to the sheriff's office, Ranney was allegedly traveling southbound on Route 380 in the Town of Ellery and turning left onto Sinclair Dr. Ext., when Roman, also allegedly traveling southbound, allegedly attempted to pass in a no passing zone around 8:15 a.m. Roman was transported to WCA Hospital, via Sinclairville Ambulance, to be treated for injuries that occurred as a result of the accident. Both parties were issued traffic tickets to appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date.
