NORTH HARMONY - A total of 35 members of the North Harmony Senior Citizens, Inc., braved the weather to attend the Monday, March 18 meeting at the North Harmony Senior Center.
The meeting took on a St. Patrick's Day theme a day late, but the Italian heritage was brought forth with the serving of a delicious spaghetti dinner hosted by Anita and Earl Ferry, Bonnie Johnson, Case Foster, Ray and Penney Rossey and Rhonda Hatfield.
Birthday celebrants Loretta Saulsgiver, Anita Ferry, Adrianna Smith, Juanita Holthouse, Elli McNeill, Norm Czubaj and Sally Carlson were serenaded by those present and a beautiful birthday cake, made by Penney Rossey, was presented to the honorees. It was noted Kathy and Paul Silzle and Louise and Will Ortman celebrated their wedding anniversaries.
Introductory prayer led by Gordon Saulsgiver and the Pledge of Allegiance was performed.
President Ferry conducted a brief meeting with the usual reports given by the various chair people. He indicated membership dues of $ 5 could be paid anytime. Anyone over the age of 85 is eligible for life membership. He announced there would be a bake sale in April organized by Patricia Saulsgiver. A garage sale would be conducted by Loretta Saulsgiver at her home in June. No entertainment was provided due to the absence of the presenter.
A questionnaire was given to each member present. President Ferry said submitting this form would be voluntary. The information consisting of name, birthday, wedding anniversary, occupation retirement, etc., would be used to produce a booklet of information for the membership about their peers. This might help the membership to get acquainted with each other.
Mention was also made of the Senior Council Trivia Day to be held on, Thursday, May 9 at 1 p.m., at the Stow Center. Last year, the Stow teams were winners of Trivia Pursuit.
Host for the April meeting will be Marty and Al LaFredo, Juanita and Paul Holthouse, Barbara Price and Phyllis Huling. The birthday cake will be provided by Marty LaFredo.
The meeting closed with a prayer of thanksgiving and safe travel.
