The Associated General Contractors of New York State recently announced the AGC NYS Scholarship Committee is now accepting applications for their undergraduate, graduate and diesel technology scholarship programs.
Since 1998 the program has awarded 448 scholarships nearing $1 million to students pursuing degrees in civil engineering, construction technology, construction management and diesel technology.
AGC NYS scholarship
Applicants must be entering the second, third or fourth year of a two- or four-year college. Applicants must be seriously intent upon a career in the building and/or highway construction industry. Applicants must pursue a Bachelor or Associate degree in construction technology/management or civil engineering and have at least a 2.50 G.P.A. Students must reapply each year up to three years of undergraduate study. Many winners each year are repeat winners.
AGC offers two $1,500 scholarships annually for students studying diesel technology. The scholarship is contingent upon the student maintaining a 2.5 G.P.A pursuing a major in diesel technology as a full time student.
Last year, the scholarship committee awarded 18 scholarships worth $44,750. With an average of less than 100 applicants each year, that's a one in four chance of receiving an award. The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, May 15.
Both applications may be obtained by visiting www.agcnys.org/programs/scholarship.
Questions about eligibility may be directed to AGC NYS Education and Environmental Director Brendan Manning at (518) 456-1134.
