WESTFIELD - On Good Friday, March 29, members of the Westfield Ministerial Association and the community will gather at noon for the annual The Way of the Cross walk. People of all ages are invited to join in this annual community event.
Starting at Moore Park in the Village of Westfield and continuing to walk through the community, there will be several stops to symbolize the 14 Stations of the Cross. Those who participate in the event will be given the opportunity to carry a large cross and to read a devotion or prayer at each stop.
"The Way of the Cross has been a common way of participating in the passion/suffering of Christ as a Good Friday service of remembrance," a booklet provided by the churches said. "A journey with various stops reminds the participant of different moments in Christ's passion journey and encourages reflection and contemplation."
Stops include the Episcopal, Presbyterian, First United Methodist, Lighthouse Christian Fellowship and St. Dominic's Catholic churches as well as several other areas in the community.
