Earldine G. Fortune, 94, of 26 Cass St., Westfield, N.Y., formerly of Sherman, N.Y., passed away March 21, 2013, surrounded by her family and friends at Absolut Care of Westfield.
She was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Earl C. and Gertrude McCullough Smith.
She and her husband, Bill, owned and operated Bills IGA in Sherman for many years. She was a member of the Sherman Community Church and also a member of WW Circle of the church. Earldine enjoyed reading, playing cards and doing word puzzles. She also enjoyed her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean Anne (Hank Cady) Graham of Sherman, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Ronald (Carol) Graham of Clymer, N.Y., Mark Graham of Sherman, N.Y., and Kelly Paulson of Charleston, W.V.; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Andrew Graham and Corey and Max Paulson.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Fortune whom she married Aug. 14, 1937; one brother, James Smith; and two sisters, Anna Edmunds and Nora Stronz.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 26 at 2 p.m., at the Spitzer Funeral Home, Sherman, N.Y., with Rev. Roger Westley, pastor of the Sherman Community Church, officiating. Friends were received for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
