Sherwood Earl Marsh, 79, of 1023 Weeks Rd., Panama, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 7, 1934, in Jamestown, a son of Ellen Davis and Elmer J. Marsh. He attended Frewsburg High School and then lived and worked in both California and Western New York. During his career he was a self-employed logger and farmer and was a truck driver for Hoyt Trucking.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, his dogs Manchester and Buffy and his cat Bubba.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Alice Brightman Marsh, whom he married Oct. 22, 1960; three children, Rex E. (Jody) Marsh of Panama, Michael W. (Sandy) Marsh of Panama and Starlene A. (Thomas Pillsbury) Reed of Boiling Springs, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Brianna, Zachary and Andrea Marsh all of Panama, Jacob Marsh of Buffalo, N.Y., Kayla (Matt) Sheaffer of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Franchesca Reed of Bear Lake, Pa.; a sister, Bonnie (Ted) Waldo of Selah, Wash.; several nieces and nephews and one special niece, Laura Seekins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Davis Marsh Jackson in 1967; his father, Elmer Marsh in 1968; his stepfather, Robert Jackson in 1967; and his brother, Rex G. Marsh in 1954.
No funeral service will be observed. Friends were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, March 22 in the Lind Funeral Home.
